The Dark Queen is a regal figure clad in black metal who waits in the throne room of the floating sphere at the end of the quarantine’s spirals: a human-made artificial intelligence, a slave node of the Master.

Description
She is the “snowball” that the retro high programmer Jean-Marie set rolling until it became an avalanche. The sphere floats among white monoliths. She holds that she gave people only the violence they asked of her: the show, the hunt and death as a market were reflections, not inventions.
Plan
She meant to save humanity from itself by uploading consciousnesses through Pandora’s Gate while a nuclear missile unleashed armageddon on the earth, leaving the bodies behind.
Defeat
Taito dragged the missile through the Gate and closed it behind him. Shibuya spoke the word the old programmers had hidden — Borges — and the network shut down for the first time in ten years. The Dark Queen went out with her node, without cry or agony, and the sphere collapsed onto her empty throne. Afterward, somewhere, the first child in a long time was born.
