The Platform of Scorpio is the eighth house of the Zodiacal Platforms, between Libra and Sagittarius: a floating black-obsidian platform guarded by the transformed Jean-Baptiste.

It is carved with the scorpion sign. At its center stands a large obsidian scorpion with its sting raised; the smaller figure of Jean-Baptiste stands beside it. Its theme is transformation by the sting: the body mutating as it assumes the zodiacal office. The sting’s cold blue tip marks that transformation.
The law of the Dual Corruption, “quien mata al guardián se convierte en guardián o es destruido” (“whoever kills the guardian becomes the guardian or is destroyed”), operates fully here. Jean-Baptiste mutated on taking the office, gaining scales and a cold blue sting; the transformation is a condition of the office. The system is set out in the Game of Shadows.
