History

Diminished by Maleika and baptized through dual magic, Graz’zt was reborn a cursed eunuch — like the Queen of Sheba’s emissary whom Philip baptized — and became religious, taking on the messianic role of Mahdi. The name was recorded as: “Evan y Ada o Nave, como la del caos” (“Evan and Ada or Ship, like the one of chaos”).

The three components

  • Evan — a baptismal given name, the Welsh contraction of Iohannes (John).
  • Ada — the title of the mirror-world novel in which Earth’s twin is called Antiterra; Graz’zt once claimed to have created Antiterra.
  • Ship of Chaos — the chaotic, evil twin of the Castle of the Prism; uniting the two was noted as a source of dual power. It is also a vehicle to “cross to the other side”, between Antiterra and Terra, at the cosmological closing.

The full name unites all his identities — Néorex, GRDT, Ludovico il Moro, the Iron God, Graz’zt — at the moment of the last plan. It is distinct from the three Ships of Chaos planted at the vertices of the sacrificial tripod.
