The River of Oblivion is the water in which Graz’zt was baptized around 1901 A.D.A., in the African line of his chronicles, on the 11 September the archives call black.

The baptism
The lord of the Triple Kingdom arrived already a eunuch in fact through Maleika. Dual magic performed the rite, recorded with a scriptural parallel: “like the one Philip baptizes, the emissary of the Queen of Sheba”, the Ethiopian eunuch of Acts (8:26-40), who was strictly an official of Candace.
The baptism does not remit sins: it transfers identity. Graz’zt entered castrated and came out consecrated as a cursed eunuch, a liminal category between ruined masculinity and the divine-castrated, and made religious, with a new name: Evan, Ada, the Ship of Chaos, the signature with which he opens the final phase of his plans.
Oblivion
The name echoes the Lethe, the water of Hades that erases memory before reincarnation, and the Gnostic Eridanos, a ritual passage to a new state. Graz’zt arrived amnesiac from wandering Ethiopia, recovering memory by fits. The baptism fixed this partial amnesia as a permanent, religious attribute of the new name: oblivion as sacrament.
Conflicting accounts
- The Sheba–Candace conflation may be deliberate, or a convergence with the Ethiopian Solomonic tradition present in the archive.
Open questions
- Where it runs: a Nile tributary, an Antiterran river on no terrestrial map, or the ritual name of an Ethiopian watercourse.
