The Throne That Is Not Named (⛎) is the thirteenth of the Houses of the Cycle: the seat in the middle of the twelve zodiacal platforms and their twelve guardians. It is the house of the free, or unattached — souls bound to no platform, who enter the Game of Shadows only when co-opted.

Nature

The throne is not empty for lack of an occupant; it is reserved. The Treatise of the Twelve Seats, attributed to Paulus, says of it: «Aquí no hay azar; hay agenda» (“Here there is no chance; there is agenda”).

Unlike the Guardians, left afflicted and bound to their column by the dual confrontation with their opposites, the unattached can enter and leave. The seat passes neither by inheritance nor by defeat but by co-option: the cycle calls, the occupant plays while the turn lasts, and the seat is then reserved again.

It holds “the same soul”: the line of souls that recurs from chronicle to chronicle — Arian, Minaya, Caladan, the Gathered — named after the line, never after whoever holds it. The occupant’s name is reserved.
