History
As owner, Cronos ran the Tavern of the World Serpent, the planar bar that served as a point of interdimensional convergence until the March of the Modrons destroyed it. He received customers, managed the hosts and kept the place. It was his business before it became the base of the Maimed.
Mónaco, one of the Maimed, turned him into a house cat by transformation magic. He was not killed: the titan went on existing as a cat while the Maimed took the tavern as their base.
During the arc of the Lords of Creation, where the four offices of exarch are contested, Arian won “using the hand of Cronos, titan owner of the serpent tavern”. Cronos thus served as a weapon or ally of Arian against the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and other candidates; whether he did so as a cat or restored to titan form, and whether the “hand” is literal or figurative, is not stated. Klyssandral was at some point one of the exarchs.
Distinction from Kronamon
| Cronos the titan | Kronamon |
|---|---|
| Titan owner of a planar bar | Son of Paulus of Alexandria |
| Turned into a cat by Mónaco | Beheaded in 1120 by a crossbow shot of Graz’zt from Masada |
| His “hand” used by Arian in the exarch contest | God of Time whose murder is a cross-temporal node of the shared cosmos |
| Tied to the Maimed | Cosmological figure of the primordial shared cosmos |
| Evokes the Greek titan Cronos (Κρόνος) | Evokes Chronos (Χρόνος), personification of Time (Skronamon) |
The two names are etymologically confusable but are kept apart in the canon.
