Events
The attempt failed in the worst way: the English Channel was evaporated, fire razed 500 miles around, and millions died. The elemental forces declared the group “guilty of chronocides”. The liberators caused more death than the oppressors, completing the pattern of catastrophic temporal intervention that began at Sarajevo.
It is the Great Fear, the Chronocide, the End of Time: the definitive catastrophe of the gesta (campaign-cycle), not a separate alternate future. 1870 + 19 = 1889, a key date for the Regulators: the disaster struck Paris after Christmas, with a loan of a million souls from the Daemons. The term was coined during the stratospheric flight.
Depiction
It is shown as an illuminated map of a northern coast with its cities as icons. The channel between them is a dry, cracked bed; a ring of fire spreads from the center, consuming the parchment and its towns, while the compass rose in one corner still points north.
