Beyond the Dancing Ashes is an emissary of the Horseman of War, or possibly the Horseman himself; the identification is deliberately ambiguous.

Appearance

In Uchronic Paris, in the negotiation after the devastation, it appears in a tower near Dover, mounted on a giant digital crab. It makes three demands: a heart, the prisoners of 1389, and the Sucronic Flare. It declares “holy war” and wagers one million Parisian souls. It mentions “19 years”, which, if the year is 1870, points to 1889.

Nature

Redeemed genies (djinn) who are very fundamentalist. They are not exactly Horsemen but a class of entities with their own agenda, strict and inflexible.

Open questions

  • Is it the same being as the Horseman of War, an avatar, or a subordinate?
  • Does “19 years” point to the Paris Universal Exposition of 1889?
