Arkane Society is the arcane society of the scorpion, a faction in Antiterra that seeks the Host and opposed Les Libertateurs during their underground phase.
Its symbolism goes back to the Egyptian Scorpion King and the goddess Selket. In Prague it displays a scorpion shield. It operates a “compass of guilt” (the spells Call of Guilt and Escape Alarm), sends an ambushing knight, and uses the Corrupt Scribe as an infiltrated agent. Queens of the arc are associated with it: Elizabeth “Spell Queen” and Eva Huizinga.
Its agenda may converge with that of the cult of Baphomet, since both seek power over the sacred in the same setting; it may also operate in Uchronic Paris as a network parallel to that cult.
