The Aleph is a secret society of the sign of the scorpion, a hidden power behind the arc of Mount Nevermind in the gesta (campaign-cycle) of Les Libertateurs (1715 A.D.A.).
| Type | Faction (secret society) |
| Symbol | The scorpion |
| Seat | The Eye of the Storm, in the Whirlpool Cavern beneath Mount Nevermind |
| Spanish entry | El Aleph (organización) |
Activities
- It commissions and circulates the Host ([[en/La_Hostia_artefacto|la hostia]]) and exploits the mine of the mountain.
- For the dirty work it uses a slaver band as a “third party”: the men of Captain Alatino.
- It also negotiates with “unos de una iglesia” (“some of a church”).
Seat
The Eye of the Storm lies at the bottom of the Whirlpool Cavern, nine hundred feet underwater. It can be reached only in crab-bathyscaphes, which must be learned to pilot as an initiation test.
Agent
Its visible arm is the Corrupt Scribe, a city-bred half-orc raised for twenty years by the society, a teleporter and agent of its designs.
The Aleph is not to be confused with Grillo Aleph, the monk of the Invisible Cities: they share the Borgesian name, not the nature.
Appearances
- Les Libertateurs / Pretty Women — Part I, Mount Nevermind (1715 A.D.A.).
