The Dual King is the figure of Vala that unites two opposites: the Great Khan of Nightmares and “what remained of the Cakravartin”, king of Atlantis. The world could not bear it: the Dual King “could not exist in this world and so it split”, which explains why the world is dual.

Nature

The office is entered by declaration: «Yo soy alguien que soy parte de este mundo dual y acepto al rey dual» (“I am someone who is part of this dual world and I accept the dual king”). The union of opposites yields the “hopeful, possible or redeemable parts of this world”; the Dual King carries that redemption.

Whoever embodies him “feels that the clothes all fit him”: sacred vestments adapt and multiply on the bearer. It holds good and evil, light and shadow. Its number is four, “the number of the elements”.

Lineage and traces

  • One holder at a time, not always, across many lives (“there is a leap”). The first was Giustena. Justenal Falls (Salto de Justenal) is also called the Dual King’s Falls.
  • All the temples of Vala descend from his foundation.
  • His sea route: Sea of Cholo → Isle of Ashes → Fire Road → Black Isle, destination unstated.
  • For celebrations a substitute King is named: “a special gardener, someone halfway in the cosmos”.
  • A “King’s mark”: whoever carries the Shard of a certain sin has it lit “as if marked in golden ink”, a stain on the Summoner’s face “that cannot be hidden”. Its link to this King rests on a confused passage.

Dual magic

Dual magic bears his name. The Oathbinder and his like were “the first guarantors of dual magic”, a legacy passed on before “I dissolve into mist”. Swedenborg explains his pact in relation to it. For some condemned it is a goal of redemption, reached through a “bond” after fulfilling a pact. A dual-magic ritual allows “the conjugation of God and Lucifer” within one hundred and twenty days; yet “dual magic only destroyed / all possible worlds”.

Conflicting accounts

  • The name is used as hereditary title, elective office, magical condition and cosmological figure.
  • The Cakravartin is one half of the union in one account; in another he and the Dual King are one figure.

Open questions

  • What “it split” means: two entities, extinction, or dispersal.
  • How many holders followed Giustena.
  • Whether the Falls relate to “the leap” or only share the word salto.
  • Whether the gardener is the Cakravartin under another office.
  • What the bond costs; who teaches dual magic.
  • A “king among the dragons” is recorded, unlinked.
