The Blue House is the highest noble house of Vala, a lineage of blue dragons tied to the sky and to sorcery, which holds “the government and the concert of the seven houses that make the lands”. There is one Blue House, recorded at four sites that do not agree.

Description

The house belongs to the sky and to the celestial principle of Anu. Its emblem is “a blue face, half draconic”. It arose in the garden “where the blue dragons and their legacy were” (Alfomega, or Jardín Alfomera). Its building is the city’s highest, “closest to the Blue Meteorological Ark”. Its custom dates “at least from the time of Irdamesh”, 3,400 years by declaration.

Sites

  • Uruk, the declared seat.
  • The Caldero, on or near the Street of Ardor, linked to sorcery.
  • A forest, with a legendary namesake structure tied to Talia Cristalia.
  • An ancient city of the house, toward which one can set course.

A card called the Blue House is also mentioned. Nearby, an unnamed house is described as an imitation of Buckingham Palace, with gilded railings, overlooking a lake.

Government

It is “the most important of the noble houses”. Of the seven houses of Vala it is “the one of men” and “the only one that still has some say”. It rules through the concert of the seven houses (arbitration among peers) and through vassalage, which demands “loyalty to the Blue House”. Membership comes by blood and declared loyalty (“I am of the Blue House”).

Its primacy holds “unless there were a true heir of the White House”. An elven meditation states: “the lord of the blue house weds the white house”.

Enemies

Its structural rival is the Black House; an old land deed reads “Raven of the river, of the Black House”. The Wordbreakers expect “to face the whole Blue House, among them the Xfinigen”.

Houses of the same register

Lesser houses also appear (Militor, Broad, Riavadi, Croma, Tromas, de Abadi, de Porfirio), unlinked to the Blue House or the seven.

  • House Riavadi: four guards with dobermans whose eyes “emit light”; a ten-by-ten office; a padded “Austro-Hungarian” interior; a working rooftop observatory. Some suggest Riavadi is the canonical Blue House; the records do not confirm it.
  • House Tromas (House of the Bastard Tromas): rented at six hundred gold for three months (500 up front, 100 after); central fireplace, cellars, four rooms, over 100 m²; near Sky Treasury; popular with adventurers.

Open questions

  • Which of the four sites is the living seat and which are ruins or namesakes.
  • Only three of the seven houses are named (Blue, White, Black); whether Militor, Broad, Croma or Tromas fill the rest is unknown.
  • Who the current lord is, how the seat passes, and why the White House lacks a true heir.
  • What the Blue House card is, who owns the lakeside palace, and what the Xfinigen is.
  • Whether Alfomega and Alfomera are one garden or two.
