Tetraxis is a city at Proxima Centauri, four light-years from Earth, and the factory metropolis of the Machines.

Description
Its impossible technology is orchestrated by a collective Machine mind. It is the setting of the Black Cygnus Quest, in which Swann attempts the resurrection of Draga Machine.
A plate shows a small island under a green, glassy sky, with a luminescent black sea around it. A long-caped figure, Swann in exile, stands at the edge of a promontory. Behind, on the rock, a small altar bears the inscription TEODORA. The trees are dead and twisted.
First appearance
In The Fruit of Knowledge, during the group’s faster-than-light journey toward Alpha Centauri, the Tetraxis is perceived as a visual and ontological phenomenon: colors dissolve into planes and a bubble surrounds the group. It acts as a waypoint in interstellar transit, not as a destination. The sidereal automata the group fights in the “sidereal office” are probably products of the Machine civilization of Tetraxis.
