Sisi is a healer of Antiterra, expelled from a library-cell of the Akashic Records, who spent three hundred years investigating the Band of Dissolution and now seeks to know the whole world in order to protect it.
Description
Sisi has very white skin “with mineral-like tints”, as if of stone, long black braids, and a face “half confused” yet very happy. She dresses in earth tones, white and black, “like the colors of the cold winter of Mongolia”: snow-white furs, a scarf that shows only part of her face, and a Russian-style plush hat with a white and orange pompom. She wears armor and dark glasses she never removes, because full sunlight hurts her eyes. She combs her hair back.
She is missing a finger. Her hands are small, but she has “neck-breaker arms”. She carries no weapons: “her weapons are herself, her hands”. She lost her bow on the road without noticing.
In the squares of Milan she heals the sick and lepers, and large crowds gather around her.
History
Sisi lived inside the Akashic Records, in a library-cell designated U571 and called 157 Números (“157 Numbers”), “an eternal library”. She was expelled and, in her own words, «Expulsada y caigo al lado de Benito» (“Expelled, and I fall beside Benito”).
Every morning, still half asleep and with her eyes closed, she sits down, opens two notebooks and writes automatically in both at once.
From 1700 to 1900 she spent “300 years investigating the fucking Band of Dissolution”, talking with theologians, physicists, esotericists, gnostics, therapists and many druids. The research turned her into “a being of these depths”.
She has ten platforms of dual magic: “You don’t have the twelve platforms. You have ten.”
Aims
She wants to know all of Antiterra, not to rule it but to care for it, so that it goes on existing as it is and, if need be, to free Ángel; to free him she must know the world entire.
The rhinoceros on the raft
During a journey with her companions (a raft, a road, frozen deserts), Sisi dealt with a rhinoceros.
Conflicting accounts
- One account says she “finished throwing it off the raft so that the others would not be at risk”.
- Another says she “hugged it a lot” with her neck-breaker arms, a tear on her cheek.
Open questions
- Who Benito is, beyond being where she fell, is unknown.
- The purpose of the automatic writing, and whether it is dictated by the Akashic Records, is unknown.
- How she lost the finger, and whether it relates to her mineral skin, is unknown.
- What dual magic is, what each platform does, and why she has ten rather than twelve is not recorded.
- Who or what Ángel is, and what holds him prisoner, is unknown.
- The order of her Akashic cell, her time in Milan and the present journey, and the location of the raft, road and frozen deserts, are not established; “Mongolia” may be a tailor’s reference or a place.
