Name and foundations

The full name joins the city’s founding Marian invocation (the old grace of the buenos aires) with the older, darker substratum of Torregrises. The city rises on those foundations, as the trunk city of the Mega Gesta did, with gray stone towers that some older chroniclers call simply Torre Grise.

The coincidence with the cosmogonic substratum of the Mega Gesta is not accidental. The city belongs to the same web of hidden, invisible cities that other versions of the enclave have inhabited on different planes of the multiuniverse, and it always holds more than it shows.

Within the Platforms

  • It is presented as the womb of the hidden cities of the regime’s urban order: a metropolis containing folds invisible to the ordinary visitor.
  • Carmín holds the office of Intercessor, a title that displaces that of Restorer but keeps its function: to guarantee federal order against the Unitarians, the Albions and anyone who threatens the estuary’s cohesion.
  • The city is militarized, with its masorqueros and frontier garrisons.
