Barkhol is a southern port of the Confederation on the border between legal and not; Bazar Balizas is the neutral market where its salt and much else is traded among Federals, Brazilians and Albions.

Barkhol

It receives ships whose flags are better not asked about, though it is no pirates’ nest: the law arrives late and transactions do not wait. Its lighthouse went dark at a moment no one remembers well and lit again without full explanation. There the men of the Federal Star traded cargoes of salt, worth almost as much as gunpowder on the southern frontier. The Albions have begun to entrench there, dressing their advance as trade — the first step of a tension centered further north in Santa María de Torregrises.

Bazar Balizas

A neutral meeting place for regimes that would not tolerate each other elsewhere, where no flag has the advantage and the harbor beacons (balizas) are the only authority all recognize. It is probably the city sailors call Montevideo, renamed by the trade that sustains it. There the southern frontier group met old allies again, among them a Jesuit of English affection who knew both worlds.
