Nibiru is an ifrit of nearly three meters who walks Vala wearing living astrological insignia, associated with a bronze-scaled dragon. He is called “a god walking on the earth.”
Name
Nibiru is the Akkadian name of the planet Jupiter, “of sovereigns and charisma”; in the speech of deities it is interchangeable with Nau. The name circulates as a term, but its bearer is one individual. Asked whether he had changed his name, his answer is not recorded.
Description
He wears half-brown robes, torso bare, very short hair, and a Spaghetti-Western hat when riding. His three insignia move:
- a black belt engraved with bulls and moving storms;
- a headband of rising birds that grant height and wisdom;
- bracelets with rams, the sign of Aries.
For a time a veil of illusion and “apparition” magic hid his true self, making him look dark, “like from Africa,” so he could not be followed. It dissolved after an encounter with an unliving creature. He has few memories of his upbringing; no homeland is recorded. Ten days passed between Midori’s last encounter with him and the present of the record.
The bronze dragon
- In one account Nibiru himself appears as a dragon shining with bronze scales.
- In others, “the dragon King of Nibiru” is a separate creature kept in reserve.
The dragon was killed by sonic damage (“a terrible sonic bath”) and can be revived. It was the first creature to land in the courtyard of Taylor’s house.
Open questions
- Whether he is a shaman or a monk: accounts say both.
- Whether the dragon is his form, mount or ally; what revives it, at what cost.
- What the unliving creature was; why the gap in his childhood exists; how he got the insignia.
- The word ifrit was heard with some doubt.
