History

Young, thin, very pale and very charismatic, with long greasy black hair, black clothes, crude prison tattoos, a scar, a soldier’s empty stare and a knife.

Born wealthy to a stern, somewhat military father, he broke as a child when moths covered him in gray dust and his father vanished. Escaping a shady electroshock asylum after six years, he robbed the rich out of class rage, swearing no poor man would suffer through him. His grandparents came from Ritornello, destroyed by “the ashes”.

In the asylum he met Kira; escaping years apart, they were each other’s one sure thing; she fears spiders, he moths. Fleeing a botched robbery, they reached Stejara in a caravan seeking the landowner’s lost children.

He secured ropes and smelled out traps, and paid: a shadow drained his strength for good, a specter left cold breath in his chest, a vampire bat crippled a leg. Trapped in a cell whose captor demanded companions for his life, he and another bargained down to one name: Marco.

Under the waterfall he drank the slimy blood of the elf-troll Kerbog Khan, mechanical heir of Ardis Vala, binding their fates; the creature submitted: “I hear and obey… uncle”. He wore a K amulet.

Corruption

He murdered the Abbot, their would-be redeemer, in his church. For this death and sacrilege the domain marked him with the first letter of the alphabet of corruption. He dreamed of ugly creatures, heard strange words on the wind, and craved corpse flesh (“I never used to eat people, friend”) as a scavenger’s fangs came in. So he reached the arena of Arden Vul and Belial’s fire.
