Infernal London is the seat of all the devils’ power: a city enclosed in a barrier of electricity, where specters capture souls that fuel the city. It is reached only by cosmic travel between platforms, and can be left the same way.

Description

Inside the barrier ordinary magic does not hold; specters “can capture souls directly”. The souls that fall to hell, “which in fact are many or all”, become the city’s fuel.

Its creatures include a pale-red being with six wings, “angel’s, but also bat’s”, and “pit spirits dripping venom from their mouths”. Larvae serve as currency among infernal creatures. These creatures return to life, but “take longer to regenerate”, and are barred from any cleansing rite.

The only recorded interior is the hall called Punishment of the Devils, where “many nobles [—], very stuck-up, all taken over and dominated” sing a horrible song. Its cacophony severely hinders anyone outside the law of evil and leaves its followers untouched. An unnamed queen with a scepter presides over the city. The relic Claw of Infernal Mighty, tied to “the Modeus crown of truth”, is associated with command. The Infernal Wrath is felt there for the first time as a distinct, named power.

The city was also taken as the seat of “the whole world of the British Empire”, and was the seat of the Viceroy of Anguila; whether by occupation, inheritance or coincidence of names is undecided.

Conflicting accounts

  • The devils, pressed by the Regulators, “barely have a base left in Infernal London”.
  • It “supposedly had a purge of devils and now seeks the idea of progress and social justice”.

Open questions

  • Nothing is recorded of the city outside the hall, nor of the barrier’s form.
  • The queen’s name and her relation to the devils, the crown and the Claw.
  • What the nobles are; the word describing them is garbled.
  • What larvae buy and who mints them.
