Description
Against the wall of a badly dug grotto at the end of a water-worn passage sits a ragged figure with something like a flail in hand; motionless, and then it moves. His treasures were stripped and his tomb left unfinished — a hole in the earth, minimal grave goods. Of the three who came down, only Camille heard and understood him; to Irti and Teddy it came as pure horror.
History
Camille ordered him, in her double voice, low and high at once, to kneel before his queen, and he prostrated himself — “I listen and obey. But release me: the years are many.” He called her Nefertiti and reproached her: the Hittite she asked for when left without a pharaoh, and the son who ended up named Tutankhamun, not Tutankhaten as they wished. Then he gave what they sought: the crown (Blue Crown of War) is below, upside down, and only one who weighs on the scale an innocent heart that does not betray him will receive it (Judgment of Maat). With that he crumbled into baleful dust with his rags.
