Queen Margot is an ancient and beautiful queen, imprisoned beneath subterranean Paris since remote times, in the Les Libertateurs gesta. She is “the queen in love who consoled herself for her exile in the place where the waters draw hips,” the Île de France. Her body carries a scorpion eaten by fungi and spores, a mark of her long captivity and of the infection she bears.
History
On the night of the last Paris, she is freed through the Marquis (the Marquis de Sade), who enchants La Plume and guides him to her door. She offers the swordsman to be her “yellow king,” extending a thread toward Carcosa and the domain of the King in Yellow.
Her corpse later reappears on the island of Antigua, burst by the spores and kicked by the Jumbies, the Caribbean she-devils on vacation. From the well of her prison springs also the Rusalka of the Fountain of the Innocents, whose fate is entwined with hers.
