Rescue
The temple of Sol Invictus is the sanctuary of Jelmario. Gabriel, priest of a malign conception, was about to offer the children at his altar. They are virgins: the bronze dragon Bronzo confirms it by smell when carrying them (“certified cargo, worthy of sacred return”). Their purity affects Erzebeth, of the opposite lineage: she falls ill when near them, unable to bear virgin children.
Pursuit
The rescue opens the frontier arc. The blue dragon Oximec brings down the towers of La Fuente with lightning, demanding that Gorgona hand over “some gringos carrying children”, and waits for the party at Eagle Pass (Paso del Águila). Gabriel disguises himself as U.S. Marshal Orlando and, with Oximec, stages the ambush in the dunes of Piedras Negras to recover them. Carrying the children safely across the frontier is one of the trials of the first platform.
