Description

Aged 59, plump, white-bearded, in expensive showy suits. Amiable, jovial, fair to his subjects, lavish at parties. He seeks to marry his daughter to a rich man because the coffers of the “kingdom” are empty; the references to a “kingdom” suggest a fallen noble rather than a mere merchant captain.

History

  • He smuggles the Deep Ones, hidden in crates, out of Cádiz while they flee the law, in order to recover Antonia.
  • He takes a thousand pounds from the hooded Karina to carry her to Barbados with two guards and a large chest; when it turns sour he throws the group off the Isla del Sol.
  • La Londra ends on the seabed, sunk by the wish Ludovico buys from the genie Marina (a “Moby Dick” ending). The group rescues Antonia from its waters; Javier had held her captive.
  • On that voyage Antonia became pregnant by him. The child was baptized before birth as “the first son of the revolution” and was later born in Atlantis.
