Hope (Expanded Plate) is an expanded plate of Hope in the gesta (campaign-cycle) of Inferno — Ante-Inferno.
When the group surrenders its Hope under maximum pressure, as in the paladins’ fight in the cathedral, Dantesque apparitions rise: the King and Queen of Hearts appear as figures of aid, bound to the crown of Asmodeus (the deep circles of the Pit). Exhausting Hope entirely pushes the group toward the condition of a Lost One.
