The figures
- Queen of Hearts: “a Korean figure, dressed with a black arm.”
- King of Hearts: “redheaded, long cape, crown of Asmodeus.”
Nature
They are not consumable cards of the Deck of Many Things, which is spent in later days. They are dimensional apparitions that come when the group gives up its Hope at the major crisis. Asmodeus’s crown ties the King to the deep circles of the Pit (Lust, Greed). Whoever sacrifices their Hope can summon them as allies for an instant.
