Description
In the Pit, objects of power are not owned but bonded. Unbonding is not theft or dispossession but renunciation, which has its own status in the circles: losing produces gain, and the price grows the deeper it is paid.
Cases
- The harlequin Adam unbonded his wings in the third circle, renouncing flight, and gave them to the Gargoyles as currency in a negotiation.
- The Lantern of Divine Flame, once Bertrand’s, is also bonded to Adam; unbonding it would have greater consequences.
The law applies to the condemned company of the Lost Ones.
