Deck of Many Things (Descent Variant) is a magical deck of cards that Plutus introduces in Circle 4 (Avarice/Fortune). It is a variant, specific to the cycle, of the classic deck.
| Type | Object |
| Contents | Fourteen cards in four suits (diamonds, hearts, clubs, spades) and two jokers |
| Spanish entry | Mazo de Muchas Cosas (variante del Descenso) |
The rite
Each companion declares how many cards they will draw before drawing them. All cards must be turned over within one hour. Plutus ties the deck to Dante’s discourse on Fortune (“Fortuna Imperatriz”). After use, the deck vanishes.
