Templars of Time is a chronicle set in Jerusalem during the Crusades, c. 1119–1120 AD. The companions are members or associates of the Order of the Temple in its early years, under Hugues de Payens. It is a short cycle: the protagonists begin as novices, newly entered into the militia of the Temple.

Background

  • It was the group’s first cycle run entirely at a distance, with voices gathered without bodies in the days of the Great Confinement, and served as a rehearsal before the long saga of Uchronic Paris.
  • Eleven days are preserved in the voice archive, collected by the chronicler Pocopis.

Open questions

  • Whether this Jerusalem is an earlier era of the same world, an insertion or a parallel version is not resolved.
  • At least one companion, Ärsvan, reappears in the Descent as a “condemned Templar”, which suggests retroactively that the cycle is canonical.
