Arvel is an angel with reddish skin and white hair and wings, who manifests as the Watcher (el Vigilante): the light the world invokes as a counterpoint when an extreme creature, the demon of the Artifact, is summoned.
Role
With his flaming sword he dispels the malign presence at the council of Cuatia and protects the lords of the Sacred Order.
Sacrifice
The Pact obliges the prince Arian to give his true name to Veloria. Knowing Arian would never dare ask, Arvel gives him his own name, saying el mal es igual (“evil is the same”). He lets himself be chained on the pentacle and fall into the pit of the demons. Before sinking, he hands Arian a sword of cosmic steel, meant to destroy Arian’s shadow, with which the prince pierces the demon’s heart. His given name is the price of the Pact.
