Arslan is a Templar of the Ivory Labyrinth and planewalker in Ardis Vala whose one quest is to find his wife, Ariadna. His only possession is an almost endless rope: her thread.

Description
Tattooed cross, Gothic symbols of an order half-remembered as Santo Jerusalorio. He came escorting the cortege of a dead envoy of Thoth and stayed; everything from other layers, armor included, fell away. He touches the rope like an amulet when lost.
The search
Ariadna is immortal, yet “may be trapped all the same”. While a million souls turn, she may be on the thread; he counts the 1,200,000 souls inside Vala one by one. In the library he found el libro de Ariadna, with an engraving of a long-haired last Templar identical to him, captioned “beloved Ariadna at the gates of the labyrinth”.
History
- He alone did not kneel to the pontiff: “Loyalty is not asked for.” That throne’s first law dooms whatever cannot walk under the sun; Ariadna perhaps cannot.
- His only pact, with Argus: each seeks the other’s wife, without touching her, as she would be detected as a demon though no longer one.
- When sorcerers of Nerub Null stripped the Seekers of everything, he offered a duel to the death for the rope; the Sortians let him keep it.
- He tried to march alone on Caladan’s castle and was restrained.
- He was absent the night the last Seekers did not leave the mausoleum.
Open questions
- How his search ended is not recorded.
- The last traces of Ariadna: a stone head in a crypt, “a black Ariadna, an elf who had suffered”; a heavy-smoking priestess seeking her husband. They do not meet.
- Whether he seeks the archive’s Ariadna is unresolved; see Thread of Ariadna.
