Thread of Ariadna (Silver Skein) is a “silver thread” used for navigation, first mentioned in the first incursion into the Omniporal Labyrinth. It continues in use in the journey of the false Master.
Properties
- Marks the route out (its primary function).
- Possibly magical: it stays taut and can be followed even in darkness.
- Possibly a planar link, perhaps connected to the Labyrinth’s entrance.
- Susceptible to magic from the other side: “magic passes through the thread.”
After the journey of the false Master it is secured, was used to return to the exit, and proved crucial for survival.
The entry notes a reference to the myth of Theseus, in which Ariadna gives the thread for navigating the Labyrinth of the classical Minotaur.
