Gunhilda’s ring is an object of the SGL chronicle that Gunhilda used when she fought as a warrior maiden. It restores strength to the one who wounds: the benefit is tied to the damage its bearer inflicts. It is not the youth phylactery, which the queen kept.
Gunhilda gave it to Dandy after their meetings in Karlstorf. She feared Burkestein would notice its absence, and did not think the excuse of having lost it while washing her hands sufficient. Dandy judged it would serve Lem better, exposed on the front line. The modron came to wear it in the combat at the Threshold of Aries.
It thus has two open trajectories: it sustains the survival of the company, and it leaves at court a compromising absence.
Open questions
- Whether it has been reclaimed, and whether handing it over settles Dandy’s promise to the queen, is not recorded.
