Description

A spokesman of Russian and European socialism, he often quotes Lenin and speaks on real democracy and the oppression of workers by church, aristocracy and industry. His articles were never published: censored by the regimes they covered, or lost in transfers that the Chronicler of the Plata suspects were deliberate.

History

With Claude Nauge he went to Berlin on an intelligence mission to meet the Copper Rose, an anarchist-revolutionary cell that works under a collective pseudonym and signs its communiqués with a seal of raised copper petals.

In Bucharest, undercover under Meteora’s coordination, he worked as revolutionary contact and investigative journalist on the Circle of Serbia. His base was the Carousel tavern of the brewery, a ground-floor café-bar on an arcaded square with absinthe and a violent innkeeper. On the night of 5–6 July 1901 he gave the Time Bandits precise intelligence on the Circle’s secret midnight meeting at Natalia Petrovna’s Mansion: schedule, entrances, plan of the main hall and estimated attendance.

He joined the infiltration as civilian support: guide, translator of the local Romanian, possible distraction for the servants. In the midnight fight Natalia hypnotized him, and under her domination he attacked Claude alongside her; the Chronicler of the Plata notes it was not his own will. He was left unconscious. He probably survived until dawn; his later path is not recorded.

Role

He brings socialist and revolutionary themes into Uchronic Paris, carrying the intrigue from palace conspiracy in Paris to working-class conspiracy in Bucharest. After the episode the group learned not to bring untrained civilians into operations against elder vampires.
