Abaddon (Abadón) is the Horseman of the Apocalypse of War in the Invisible Cities arc: less a person than a power, a plane of existence materialized, which incarnates in a body when a war lord is needed.
| Office | Horseman of War, while the seat was vacant |
| Weapon | Lament of the Faithless |
| Spanish entry | Abadón (el ángel) |
Description
He hangs over the lake of the menhirs at four hundred feet: an angel with black raven wings and a shark’s smile, in silks from the mulberry tree “where the silkworm is raised”. His features are pleasant, almost androgynous; nothing pleases him more than a brawl.
Role
- He holds the office of Horseman of War while it was vacant, before the seat passes, by contest and blood, to other holders.
- Companions of the emissaries invoked him. He arrived with three more daemons of his band, among them Krampus, the man with the sack, and Catón the ferryman.
- His presence turns the recovery of the objects of Luca into open battle.
The sword
The Lament of the Faithless (Lamentation of the Faithless) is a blade whose edge bears, name after name, the list of all who died not believing in what killed them. The plural sword always seeks the hand of the Horseman; the Horseman incarnated in Abaddon is one of its stations.
