Amnesiac Horatio is the configuration of a single being — Horatio, Lotario, Roijal and “all the other configurations of his name” — that awoke floating in a river without knowing who he was — “the awakening of a greater cosmic force”.
| Type | Character |
| Origin | Gotland (Baltic) |
| Spanish entry | Horatio amnésico |
Nature
The being passes from name to name across incarnations, distributed in time rather than space; what happens to him “is part of the past and will be part of the future”. His memory is lost, his name “disordered”, his abilities dormant; his physiology and powers are intact. Born on Gotland, he was rescued from a river “somewhere in Eastern Europe”. His breathing sounds “like the waves of the ocean”.
Description
Attractive, with “crimson hair, always intense”, restless honey-colored eyes that seem to take on the blue of water or green of grass, and a deep voice. His skin is also said to be red. “In the cells of his body there are more atoms, between the atoms”: he is “hard to pierce”, immune to toxins, slow to tire, stronger than the human average, very agile and above all resilient. He is distinguished from beasts and from “those sombretones”.
He is a musician, a “sailor by profession” and an “emergency diplomat”; charismatic, boastful, roguish, and legendarily the inventor of poker. In battle he is “like a berserker” and wields a chain flail whose ball can be heard.
Priesthood and pact
He sold his soul in exchange for consecrated hosts, stealing all of them from the devils, and so became a cleric. At least one cloned body of his exists, over which Asmodeus has power; a god’s essence and a cleric’s are bound in that flesh, and what happens to Horatio happens to the whole chain.
Powers and recovery
At full measure he can “raise a new plane of existence”, clone his body and create life. He is recovering gradually, through dreams, journeys and experiences.
Open questions
- Age, height, number of incarnations and of clones; whether the skin, or only the hair, is red; what sombretones are.
- To whom he sold his soul (Asmodeus or another), on what terms, and whether the pact holds.
- Which plane he raised, when, and what life he created.
- Who rescued him, how long the amnesia has lasted and how much he has recovered; where and with whom he travels.
- Which body acts, original or clone, and whether each knows of the other.
