Description

One of the largest neo-Gothic churches in Buenos Aires and the only one in Barracas, it was raised “by some strange people”, “like a pantheon of Paris”. It faces a plaza at Avenida Vélez Sarsfield 1351 (the street name is garbled; one reading proposed Iriarte). Its interior is not described.

In 1967 it is under restoration, closed, with worship suspended; the works cover activity inside without witnesses.

The coin

The secret was found through the coin of Irene, the “third eye”, which, placed on the forehead, opens visions. When Armando Cabo received it, the visions included the bombing of the Plaza de Mayo and showed that “the basilica hides something” of magical, mystical or cosmological importance; it became the goal of the investigation.

What it hid

Beneath the church lay an organization that looked into the future, a chained shoggoth used as a generator, and rifles from another war, serving Yog-Sothoth. Malena died there. The full account is in Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Barracas.

Conflicting accounts

  • One version credits the architects of the Palace of Congress; another, the architect of the Teatro Colón.

Open questions

  • Who ordered and carries out the 1967 works, and since when; how to enter.
  • Whether Irene’s coin only points to the place, or something there responds to it.
