Description
She carries a star-shaped throwing knife, and in Isidora disguises herself as a quiet Chinese woman in a little cap, poling a junk along the rivers. Duchess of the lakes and author of the Book of the Seven Lamps, she was outcast among her own kind for consorting with a mortal. She raised Armagedón and taught him to fight and some magic — above all the art of stealing magic from the wicked and turning it against them. When that night’s eclipse covered more than it should, she warned: “The membranes between the worlds are very thin.”
Death
At the Duke’s mound she faced Marta of the chains, the “third woman” who took the Duke to his grave, who mocked her knowing the dead man’s third name. Before the sarcophagus’s excessive trap, Starfata said “I’ll do it myself” and opened the lid; an absolute necromantic destruction swept her away, leaving only her skull. She died without seeing that the sarcophagus was empty.
