Role
She is named for the Roman festival of license. Her father is the visible face of the Circus Maximus; she weaves beneath him, turning the arena spectacle into an operation whose reach extends far beyond the stands.
Her real power lies in the street. She commands the dealers who circulate the divine substance through the city: ambrosia, cut so that it addicts and consumes its victims. She gives the orders and decides who receives the adulterated fire of the gods and who is left out. Through them the Roman house becomes another capillary of the essence trade running through New York.
In the family
August embodies the rancor and muscle of the revived; Saturnalia supplies maneuver, manipulation and the long plot. She appears rarely. She stands where the trafficking links Mars, the Shawarma Connection and the gladiator circuit.
