SIMPLEX is a magical construct of logic and iteration, a mechanism rather than a living creature, that arose in the depths of the Descent. Its exact origin within Hell remains obscure.

| Place | The second circle of the Descent, Castle of the Prism |

Nature
- Its repetitive, orderly nature relates it to the Inevitables and other constructs of order, distant echoes of the cadence of Mechanus.
- It is recorded as a new form not seen in earlier descents: an iteration that the second circle sets against those who cross it.
- It operates in the trial towers (Towers of the Prism Castle) of the castle, the fortress of the second circle.
