The Osfiotauro is a bull-serpent hybrid creature met in the Valley of Death, released deliberately against the group by the creatures of the tower. It is extremely dangerous: it kills or critically wounds Philippe, crushing or “breaking” him.

- Corvino fights in the air with raven wings; a vampiric touch lands squarely and returns strength stolen from the monster.

Defeating the osfiotauro grants Mythic Ascension (catasterism), a spiritual or cosmic elevation of the hero who beats it.
Symbolism
It connects with the bull symbolism that runs through the whole gesta (Aldebaran/Alpha Tauri, Minoan bull cults, the labyrinth and the Minotaur) and with the serpent symbolism (The Serpent, Serpent Island).
