Orlando is a US Marshal on the border in 1888, “hard and fair”, the only authority on the other side who can be trusted — preferred over the corrupt Coyote.

History
He entered the plot by telegraph. Don Gorgona sent him an emergency request about “a precious cargo”, without naming the children in case the message was read at the receiving post; the message sent before marching to Piedras Negras began: “I have the kidnapped children.” Fort Clark was the other friendly jurisdiction; the exchange took place at Eagle Pass.
He is also listed among the border figures as “the Marshal they turned into a Rabbit”.
Identity
“Like Roland, who had himself called Orlando” — and then withdrew for a hundred years: the border Marshal of 1888 bears the name the paladin of Roncesvalles used when he changed centuries.
