Maleika is an immortal woman of law and evil, unique of her kind, mother of the Children of Maleika and ally of Lucifer. Her name is traced to Greek: «Mal-eica es la casa del mal» (“Mal-eica is the house of evil”).

Spanish entryMaleika

Description

She wears orange, indistinguishable from her skin. Countless tiny holes open between its threads: hence the robe (or mantle) of a thousand eyes. She is bald and browless, with sharply defined thighs and calves, and tattoos. “My father was a tiefling”; the source of her viper nature is not stated.

Possessions

  • Staff of Sovereignty: a rod ending in a blue stone.
  • A coppery cylinder: a parchment case, the container of the nemic record, or both (unreconciled versions).
  • A Sacred Avenger sword across her back.
  • The Nemic Scepter: “a deep magical artifact” that connects whoever touches it with something or someone, who then gains or loses experience according to the bond.

Powers and abilities

Her blue flame is a transferable essence: ceded in a ritual, it converts whoever receives it. Her line repeats her path; entering through one of her daughters “will take you down the same road”.

She is immune to disease, poison, acid, cold and electricity, resistant to fire, and can shapeshift (she once became a tortoise). Unexplained: “she is immortal, but she does not know how to do it”.

History

She lived many years with Graz’zt. Sent to Lucifer’s world with Casemiro and Broxo, she sided with him and loves him: “Maleika came back, Maleika is on Lucifer’s side, forget it.”

There she was transformed: her body stayed hers, but her skin turned “somewhat stony and gray”, reddish where it had been bright, while “the auras begin to overflow into a very intense evil”.

In Antiterra she is placed atop the Eiffel Tower, where El Fabuloso asks her for the stone, the gem. Her dispersed children are said to be in Fiji, not Africa.

Conflicting accounts

On her end:

  • She is immortal and does not know how to die.
  • “Maleika killed by her twelve children; she put on the stones and threw herself in.”
  • “She died in that pool; she has already fused.”

Her children number twelve in one account, an unspecified plural in another, “a daughter” in a third.

Open questions

  • Whether death and fusion are one event, and with what she fused.
  • Who Broxo is.
  • Whether El Fabuloso’s gem is the Staff’s blue stone.
  • Why the Eiffel Tower and Fiji belong to her network.
