Iriscan is a half-elf knight of drow blood, mythic hierophant and rider of primitive beasts, whose face has long been hidden behind a bronze skull mask.

Description

The mask is embossed, not carved, worked in the style of “native cultures” as a totemic death figure; it covers his whole face, with his curls showing at the sides. Those who saw him up close say he is dark-skinned and curly-haired beneath it; his eyes are remembered as emerald, greenish or light. His hair is slowly turning white. Others cannot see his emotions.

He is larger than most men. His full plate, “almost futuristic”, is of elven-made mithril, noted as exceptionally valuable. It shines like a paladin’s, reflects candlelight, glows golden and under the moon shines with elven magic. It has also been called celestial armor; whether it is the same piece is unsettled. He also carries a helmet, greaves, a shawl worn back over the shoulders, a staff with a portable emblem hooked to it, a shield, a sword whose hilt ends in a candle shape, a pin with a dinosaur skull, and a bow.

Powers and abilities

  • His armor costs him no speed: sixty feet in one action, “like a 100-meter runner”, “like Iron Man”.
  • He can speed himself up without exposing himself to blows.
  • As a hierophant he heals moderate wounds with a touch reaching thirty feet.
  • As a half-elf he has “two different feet in relation to time”, his paternal and maternal lines aging differently.

Role

He appears in candlelit halls and front-rank assemblies, where others remark on his hidden face. In his own quarters he has destroyed the lamps: he dislikes light. He is charged with being associated with an avatar of war (“why are they associated?”), probably in the setting of Imola. Of his origin he says only «Soy de Peri» (“I am from Peri”).

Open questions

  • Where Peri is, and how it is spelled, is unknown.
  • Why he wears the mask, since when, and whether he removes it is not recorded.
  • Whether “skull” and “totemic death” name the same form is unresolved.
  • What the staff emblem is, and which beasts he rides, are unknown.
  • Whether the tie to the avatar of war is alliance, possession or shared travel is not stated.
