Background
His father, Nadeem, is a doctor and Muslim merchant with a humble but prosperous business; his mother, Amina, has New York roots and a Wakandan past Jamal does not suspect. They met traveling in Africa and had three children. Jamal is popular at university, excels at study and athletics, and runs rooftops doing parkour.
Awakening
Attempting an impossible jump in an abandoned area, he fell into a hidden underground chamber, the Dimensional Fold in Queens, full of ancient artifacts hidden as part of a covert operation. Touching one awoke the power in his blood: superhuman speed, manifesting as a whirlwind of blue energy. He took the name Ifrit and began helping his neighborhood quietly.
Double life
Only his older brother Malik, an engineer who built his suit, and younger sister Aisha, an artist who designed it, know his identity.
Powers
He crosses the city in seconds, runs on walls and water, deflects projectiles and senses danger. Without Ifrit’s Speed Suit, his own speed would hurt him.
