The series

Searches for the mages’ great secret always give the same names, in series: Paul of Tarsus, Apollonius of Tyana, Bruno and Blanqui; the long version adds Simon Magus and Asclepius. They are united by one question, “¿Qué sucede con la marea temporal?” (“What happens with the temporal tide?”), and by having answered it. The greater secret, known to all and above all to Blanqui, is seen rather than explained: beside a pool, they see the water flow backward.

Bruno is not here the burned philosopher but a link in that chain. Notebook notes (C35) ask why he is “the MAGE” (“because he broke with the Church”) and tie him to cosmotheism, the Corpus Hermeticum, Hermes Trismegistus and Yates, noting his burning at Campo de’ Fiori in 1600.
