Nature
Vala’s oral tradition describes it as a hungry being with no fixed form, whose nature evokes the great devourers of nameless time: creatures older than the order of the world, who do not distinguish between victim and cosmos. It does not belong to the direct lineage of Tiamat, though it shares her attribute of primordial hunger.
History
The Devourer was tied to the family lineage of Taylor, whose origin story interlaced his parents with the entity’s shadow. The Wordbreakers confronted it in the arc that culminated at Nesut Biti and defeated it: it was subdued when they discovered and neutralized the cauldron sustaining it beneath the city. The cycle closed with that victory, though the memory of what it consumed was not erased by its fall.
In the surviving records it is always tied to the name of Nesut as an implicit threat: a presence that did not rule the city but inhabited it from below, like a second foundation of a different nature.
