Role
The “fire” of his title is ambrosia (Ambrosia Delivery), the divine substance Mars distills and traffics. ONNI is the runaway artificial intelligence of the Wanderers. Cripto shielded the systems, encrypted communications and kept the corporation’s secrets behind walls of code.
Capture and confession
During the great blackout of 15 August 2035 the defenders of this Earth captured him. Guarded by Bruce, Mars’s former security chief who had changed sides, he broke and confessed publicly through the journalist Sovinsky, bringing down the defenses he had built. He gave the internal map of the tower — corridors, laboratories, the way to its atomic heart — which allowed the heroes to prepare the assault on Mars and the final duel with Samuel Giles.
