Twelve Clubs of Paris are a political-religious power structure in post-liberation Paris. They represent twelve gods who were to sacrifice themselves to grant humanity freedom in a “new Rebirth of human reason,” but who betrayed that pact and settled into positions of power.

Revelation

The Night Demoness and the revolutionary discourse reveal that “muchos son los que están hoy sentados en un seno de poder en París” (“many are those who today sit in a seat of power in Paris”): the gods who refused the sacrifice. The Twelve Clubs channel that divine power into an earthly political structure.

Liberation of Paris

The liberation of Paris, twelve years earlier, was partial. Paris was freed from the “demonic yoke,” but the traitor gods remain. The liberation was a change of master, not a true emancipation.
