Borealis is the northern refuge of the celestial turtles, in the Atlantean setting of the gesta (campaign-cycle) of Les Libertateurs (1784 A.D.A.).

Its inhabitants follow a doctrine of non-intervention: they pull the strings of the world without touching it, because by their law men must win their own freedom. Gideon returns from Borealis, sent there by the Cakravartin as an emissary to those of his own celestial blood: the thirteen angels of the colonies, guardians of the representatives of the Continental Congress. He returns with the last host and the mission to the angels, in the New York 1784 arc.

The name designates only this sanctuary. It is not to be confused with the Boreals or the Boreal Bank, which are distinct entities.
