Andromalius as espicería de castigo is a secondary ritual use of the demonic Earl Andromalius: the preparation of an espicería de castigo (“punishment spicery”), a goetic operation directed specifically against thieves. In this use the demon takes neither body nor voice. He acts as an invisible force that pursues and fells the culprit, returning to the wronged party what was taken.

The procedure

It is known among the operators of the hermetic art who circulate in the Quartier de Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the Paris of the Fronde. It requires simple materials, can be performed at any hour and needs no containment circle. Practitioners call it a lesser use of the same greater pact.

It is carefully distinguished from the full invocation of Andromalius, in which the Earl can possess a host and manifest his form of a man with a serpent.
